Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about nasal strips? We've got answers to help you breathe better.
How do nasal strips work?
Each strip contains flexible, spring-like bands that gently lift the sides of your nostrils. When applied above the nasal valve (the narrowest part of your airway), the strips widen your nasal passages by up to 25%, instantly reducing breathing resistance and improving airflow.
Are nasal strips safe for daily use?
Yes! Nasal strips are completely drug-free and safe for daily use. However, do not use for more than 12 hours per day. If you experience any skin irritation, redness, or discomfort, discontinue use and consult with a healthcare professional.
Can children use nasal strips?
Nasal strips are safe for children over 5 years old. We recommend using our smaller size for children and that parents assist with application and removal. Children under 5 should not use nasal strips.
How do I apply and remove nasal strips properly?
Clean and dry your nose first. Remove the strip from backing and place it just above the flare of your nostrils, pressing firmly for 10-15 seconds. To remove, wash your face with warm water, then slowly peel off the strip starting from the edges. Never pull the strip off dry as this may irritate your skin.
Will nasal strips help with snoring?
Yes! Nasal strips can significantly reduce snoring caused by nasal congestion or narrow nasal passages. By opening your airways, they promote nose breathing instead of mouth breathing, which is a common cause of snoring. However, if snoring persists, consult a healthcare professional as it may indicate sleep apnea.
Can I use nasal strips during exercise?
Absolutely! Nasal strips are excellent for athletic performance. They increase oxygen intake during exercise, helping you breathe more efficiently and potentially improve endurance. The adhesive is designed to stay secure even during intense physical activity and sweating.
Who should not use nasal strips?
Avoid nasal strips if you have a latex allergy, open wounds or sores on your nose, severe skin conditions like eczema in the application area, or if you're under 5 years old. Pregnant and nursing mothers should consult their healthcare provider before use, though nasal strips are generally considered safe.
Will nasal strips help with a deviated septum?
Nasal strips can provide temporary relief for mild breathing difficulties associated with a deviated septum by opening the external nasal valve. However, they cannot correct the structural issue. For severe deviated septum cases, consult an ENT specialist for proper medical evaluation and treatment options.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare but may include mild skin irritation, redness, or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. If you experience persistent irritation, rash, or discomfort, discontinue use immediately. Some people may feel slight discomfort when first using strips, but this typically subsides as you get accustomed to them.
How long do the effects last after removal?
The breathing improvement from nasal strips is immediate but temporary. Effects last only while the strip is applied and end when removed. For ongoing breathing support, nasal strips need to be used consistently. They do not provide permanent changes to your nasal structure or breathing patterns.
